PGT has manufactured several sliding and patio door lines over the years, and each series has its own hardware quirks. A WinGuard door built before 2015 uses a different strike plate geometry than one built after. As for OEM versus aftermarket: PGT’s own rollers and track covers are excellent, but aftermarket equivalents from companies like Prime-Line and Slide-Co can match or exceed OEM quality at 30 to 40 percent less in some cases. For wear items like rollers, we’re comfortable recommending aftermarket. For anything related to the structural frame or impact glazing, we stick with PGT original parts every time. • The door closes, then drifts open slightly. The rollers have worn unevenly, or one has collapsed entirely, so the panel is no longer sitting level. This also means the door isn’t sealing flush, which makes it easy for humidity and insects to get in. In impact-rated WinGuard doors, a sagging panel also compromises the structural interlock, which matters when the wind starts blowing during hurricane season.
